aespa (에스파), stylized as æspa, is a 4-member South Korean girl group under SM Entertainment consisting of Karina, Giselle, Winter, and NingNing. They debuted on November 17, 2020 with the digital single “Black Mamba,” introducing a then-revolutionary “metaverse” concept where each member has an AI avatar (æ) living in a virtual world called KWANGYA. They made their Japanese debut on July 3, 2024 with “Hot Mess,” and in June 2022 signed with Warner Records for global promotions. Their name combines “æ” (“Avatar X Experience”) and “aspect,” meaning the innovative experiences they’ll create together with their avatars. Their official fandom name is MY (“the most precious friend” in KWANGYA), and their official color is Aurora.
